I'm honoured to have my artwork Becoming included in the McCaig ARTS Gallery’s new exhibition, “Innovative Impressions: The Fusion of Art and Science,” presented by the ARTS Society. The exhibition opened on February 21, 2025, and will remain on view for one full year at the University of Calgary Foothills Campus.
This thoughtfully curated show explores the intersection of creativity and scientific insight, showcasing artworks that reflect biological processes, natural systems, and human curiosity. My piece, Becoming, is a 12 x 16 inch mixed media work (framed to 16 x 20 inches) inspired by the metamorphosis of the Monarch butterfly—a subject that beautifully mirrors the interplay of structure, time, and transformation found in both nature and art.
In a circular composition, Becoming invites viewers to contemplate the quiet force of gradual change: how metamorphosis is not a single moment of emergence, but a rhythm shaped by resilience, time, and unseen forces. I’m grateful to the ARTS Society for the opportunity to contribute to this inspiring and intellectually rich exhibition.
The opening reception will take place on Friday, February 28 from 4 to 7 PM, and all are welcome to attend.
