This spiky hair guy looking up with a whimsical smile is a work in progress. It’s a mixed-media sculpture. The core is aluminum mesh covered with several layers of plaster cloth. The details were added using stone clay. The hair spikes each has an aluminum core strengthened with plaster cloth. The texture of the hair was added using stone clay. After it was all dried and sanded, I painted it with Golden acrylic paint. 

The whole process took quite some time, especially since I had a lot of “figuring out” to do before each step, and I went back and forth between this one and my other artworks. I’ve been making characters since I was very young. I made a few for stop-motion animation features. I have tried many different mediums over the years, and I always find myself exploring new ones.
